Dass jetzt Google Mail Mails von Google als Spam klassifiziert, lässt auf tiefe Google-interne-Zerwürfnisse schließen. Wieso sonst sollte der Spamfilter zuschnappen, wenn Post aus dem eigenen Haus kommt? Sollte es Microsoft doch noch gelingen, den Erfolg der Krake mit den beiden “o” zu brechen? Dazu passt ein aktueller Beitrag auf technochat über eine GMail-Spamlücke. Angad Deep Singh beschreibt dort eine Sicherheitslücke, die ein Tor für Spammer über Google SMTP-Service weit aufstößt. In diesem Zusammenhang beschäftigt er sich mit dem Vertrauensvorschuss von Google als Mail-Absender.
Situation seems even worse when we consider the fact that E-mail that originates from Google, are well-regarded by both Yahoo and Hotmail. If you try to send spam mails directly to Yahoo and Hotmail from a blacklisted IP, mails don’t even necessarily reach the account’s spam box, while forged e-mail sent via Gmail always arrived in the intended account’s inbox. Hence exploiting the trust hierarchy among Email Servers.
Die Urheber dieser Information, mithin Entdecker der Lücke vom “information security research team” sind außerordentlich besorgt. Angeblich haben sie Google vor über eine Woche informiert.
We are still waiting to hear from Google and we sincerely hope that this flaw can be fixed before the full details about the problem are released.
